Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) is the flagship skill development initiative of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India, aimed at providing free skill training to youth across the country. As a recognized implementation partner, JKYDF plays a vital role in executing PMKVY across Jammu & Kashmir by offering industry-relevant skill courses that enhance employability and foster self-reliance among the youth.

Under PMKVY, JKYDF provides short-term skill training across sectors such as IT/ITES, retail, healthcare, construction, and tourism, with a focus on both technical and soft skills. The program is completely free of cost and includes assessment and certification by Sector Skill Councils (SSCs), ensuring national recognition of the skills acquired. Successful candidates also receive job placement assistance or support for self-employment, depending on their chosen career path.

By implementing PMKVY, JKYDF empowers young individuals—especially those from economically and socially disadvantaged backgrounds—to build a better future through skill-based learning. The initiative supports the Government’s vision of a Skilled India and contributes significantly to the socio-economic development of Jammu & Kashmir.
